Rank: Redrider
Wing: Bloody Fang Wing
Status: Healthy
Appearance:
Personality:
For all of this magnetism surrounding her, she is rather independent, and will steadfastly deny at any given point that she needs help of any kind. She can do anything she puts her mind to, and she only needs herself and Akahanath to do so. Because of this sort of blind acceptance that only her dragon can truly understand her, she tends to have trouble finding the ability to commit to any sort of relationship for the time being. The person will have to be incredibly persistent, but once she actually does commit, it's forever. In addition to this independence, she is very confident and bold, always willing to try anything once, so long as there's no chance that it will end up backfiring on her later on in life. Because she's willing to experiment with anything, she often finds herself being thrown into situations that others would find ridiculous, but in all honesty, this is where she feels the most alive.
Alassiel is a clever young woman, which can only be expected of someone who does over half of the things that she does. A feral intelligence lies within those cool blue eyes of hers, and she's not ashamed or afraid to let anyone know about it. The young woman is rather opinionated, and she'll call you out straightaway if she thinks you're bluffing or lying without any sort of hard evidence to back her claim up. Albeit, a bit over half of the time she's right in her assumptions, but it's not like she'll be humble enough to admit the other times when she was wrong; that simply isn't her way. After all, in order to come out on top in all things, one cannot be wrong. That is one of this young woman's biggest character flaws, according to those who have known her a long time; no matter what, she simply must be first in everything. A competitive nature that has followed her since childhood fuels this in her, and she often finds herself looking down upon others, feeling that she has to be superior to them somehow. Second best is never an option with Alassiel, and she will find ways to come out as the best, no matter how low she has to sink to do so.[/ul]
History:
Finally, the day came, and she quickly apprenticed herself to the Smithcraft, eager to prove her worth to her family and to all of Pern. Sure, her parents were already proud of her, already thought the world of her, but that was all circumstantial. They were her parents, they were obligated to feel that way. As time passed in the Hall, she proved herself a clever and capable student, the sort of fast learner that was well appreciated in any craft. The days seemed to fly by, and before she knew it, nearly three Turns had passed, and young Alassiel was turning fifteen. Now, if leaving home for the first time to attempt to strike out on her own was exciting enough, what was about to happen to her was even more so. Just before she would officially turn fifteen, a dragonrider from the nearby Solace Weyr arrived at the Hall, on Search for the recent clutch of eggs. Taking this as a way to rise up, to be more than just a simple smith, Alassiel practically threw herself in front of the dragon, and wasn't surprised in the least when the green thought she would be suitable to stand for Grenth's clutch. And so she was on her way to the Weyr, confident that she would Impress straightaway.
Soon after her fifteenth birthday, golden Grenth called the candidates to the Hatching Grounds; her clutch was hatching, and they would not tolerate tardiness. To her, this was all new and exciting; to some of the other candidates, this was routine, simply going through the motions like they had time and time again. Alassiel watched as each egg hatched, inspecting the young dragons that hatched from them and simply knowing that one of them was hers, that she would soon become the proud rider of the perfect dragon. And finally, about halfway through the Hatching, one of the eggs started to rattle and shake. The beautiful red colored shell caught the young woman's eye immediately, and her eyes fixated solely on this egg until finally it burst apart, revealing a fine young red that was perfect to Alassiel in every way. She moved with a confidence in herself that matched her own, and the more the young woman watched, the more she wanted this little female to do nothing more than simply look in her direction.
No, no, no! The voice drifted into her mind then, almost singing as the red stood among the shards of her shell, which had nearly been as vibrantly red as the young dragon herself was. This just won't do. Such imperfection; I deserve only the best. Alassiel only had to watch for a moment before that beautiful dragon looked towards her, and she actually felt their eyes lock for a moment before the red moved closer. The little female sniffed experimentally at her before deciding, settling onto her haunches and looking straight into the young woman's eyes. And the best is you, Alassiel. Now, if you would kindly get your Akahanath something to eat? Thus was the start of a beautiful friendship between Alassiel and Akahanath.
Weyrling training went by quickly for the two, since their mutual need to be at the top of the class propelled them onward, helping them get through even the toughest obstacles. The realization that with graduation would come Threadfall wasn't lost on the two, though they simply thought of it as just another hurdle to climb. They trained hard, trained well, and all of their persistence paid off in the end. Both dragon and rider are full grown, ready to take on the world for all it has to offer. They have already fallen into the natural rhythm of Threadfall, but both of them know better than to let their confidence and pride get the better of them. After all, all it takes is one time for everything one has ever known to come crashing down around them, and so they refuse to let their guard down.[/ul]
