Character Number: Second
Name: C'alan (Calanon)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Black Weyrling
Wing: ???
Status: Healthy
Appearance:
When it comes to physical features, C'alan clearly appears far different in the face than his body suggests. Here, the young man appears strong in nearly every way, and one would do well to heed to this initial thought. There is a look of rebellious determination that shows itself strongest in the look in his eyes, as well as the way his jaw is usually set in an almost defiant way. Usually, however, he'll set this intimidating look aside in favor of a mischievous or playful half-smirk. His facial structure is very strong, with sharp angles making up most of it, with a jawline that only barely borders the line between being angular and being lantern-jawed, though most of the time this is blurred by the stubble that he keeps along his jaw and above his lip. His face is framed by dark hair, thick black locks that hold a hint of a golden-brown tint in only the strongest lights. He rarely allows his hair to grow past shoulder length, but on those occasions, it's made very clear that it is difficult to deal with at best, comprising of wild curls that refuse to be tamed easily. This dark hair serves as a striking contrast to his light complexion and eyes, which are a lovely shade of pale blue that stand out beneath the gently arching dark eyebrows. He is rather expressive, though the predominant emotion on his face is either one of stubborn pride or playful attentiveness, which can confuse those who really take the time to watch him.[/ul]
Personality:
There are people who live their lives on a day to day basis, conforming to everything those around them expect. These people simply don't feel the need to make the world around them any different than it is at the time, feeling comfortable enough in their surroundings to simply continue on without questioning anything. C'alan isn't one of these people; he is a revolutionary, a questioner of life and the boundaries that society sets for everyone. He altogether refuses to follow all of the rules, and will bluntly tell someone straightaway if he thinks that a 'rule' is the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard. He's been called rebellious on more than one occasion, and those who have said so wouldn't be entirely wrong; this young man is really rather defiant when he is of the mind that something is foolish or wrong, and he'll do everything in his ability to attempt to change that. To add to this, he is also notably stubborn; once he latches on to a particular side in a debate or even a simple thought, nothing that anyone can do will make him change his mind right away. Does this mean he's incapable of bending? Of course not! Provided that one presents the right sort of evidence to prove that his precise opinion is indeed the wrong one, he's more than willing to back off of whatever subject happens to be in debate at the time.
Given the initial forceful, stubborn air he tends to give off, people are actually quite amazed when they start to truly get to know him. This is mainly because they don't expect him to actually be a rather gentle individual beyond that first layer of staunch idealism. In truth, C'alan is really quite the considerate young man once he gets into the swing of things. The friends he makes are quite often for life, unless they wrong him or another in a way that is wholly unforgivable. He is fiercely loyal, and will always stand up for anyone, no matter what they did, while he still considers them a friend. There is a protective side of him that everyone sees, since he makes a point to stand up for those who either need protection or seem to refuse to stand up for themselves, which only proves as further testimony to the fact that he cares and loves rather deeply. For those who have proven to him that they are deserving of his inexhaustible trust, he will gladly lay his own life on the line to ensure that they remain safe.
For all his confident and cheerful nature, there is one particular problem with this young man; he has a tendency to be a bit distant from others when in a surrounding he isn't quite familiar with. If there's one thing his time out in the Holds and Halls of the South has taught him, it's that one can't simply open themselves up like a book right away when in a new place. Still, once he starts to understand the people wherever he is at the time, he'll start to open up, slowly but surely, in an attempt to keep himself from getting into the wrong sort of situation. Still, despite his initial reluctance to get too close to a person right away, he'll still do whatever he can to get at least a vague idea about the person first. He's an inquisitive sort of person, prone to pulling someone aside and asking questions about any and every other person around him so that he won't feel like they're complete strangers when he finally feels that it's alright to approach them. Of course, this also means that when someone approaches him to talk, his curiosity will override his initial cautiousness.[/ul]
