Character Number: 2nd
Name: Lerase
Age: 18 turns
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Candidate
Wing: Ground crew.
Status: Fighting fit. Recently had a cold, but healthy now.
Appearance: In short, Lerase is...short! And fully grown, what a shame! Topping out at 5'3" she is frightfully lacking in the height department. Alas for her dreams to ever be tall. Still, she's relatively well-built. She is a little on the stocky side, but she's not fat at all thanks to a life of hard work in the weyr. In any other more relaxed life she would likely be quite buxom, but the strenuous life of helping carry sacks of firestone and clambering about the weyr has robbed her of most of her 'attractive' assets. She is still markedly female though, with wide hips all too well made to bare children, and a feminine bust.
Her face is relatively round, with the vestiges of what could become a pleasant plumpness in enough leisure time. Her brows are sculpted, and arch at a slant over her typically brown eyes, giving her a determined, almost fierce expression. Said eyes are bright and wide-spaced. Her lashes are short, and her consistent lack of make-up gives her a plain appearance. Her skin is richly tanned from the summer sun, and her hairline which rises high and square above a forehead that seems to go on a shade too long blends into it, matching it in dun-like color.
Her limbs are thick, especially her legs, adding to her firm and stocky look. She cares little for her appearance, and wears her hair pulled simply back. Her nails are short or chipped or torn, and lined with dirt or blood from slaughtering beasts for the kitchens. Her style of dress is casual and comfortable, in deep blues and browns
Personality: Lerase is a little bit obsessive, but not in the bad way. Like in the 'makes her bed as soon as she gets up every day' way. So I guess you could say she just gets very very into something, focused, and then runs with it. Unfortunately she also has a little habit of not finishing what she's started because she gets bored. She usually gets around to finishing it later though. So it's all good. She does like the feeling she gets when she finishes something, and tries to do a good job most of the time.
Being raised by a healer and a harper she's rather smart across a general spread of subjects. She loves trivia and can ramble on about all sorts interesting but unimportant things. For a while she considered following both of her parents' professions, but heck, dragons are just too beautiful and fascinating! So she chatted with some riders that came to her home hold one day and got scouted as a candidate. No, of COURSE she didn't sneak into the weyr. But she would be just the person to talk to if you wanted to do such a thing! She makes a point of getting to know everyone (even if she's bad with names) and always know what's going on anywhere in the weyr at any time. Not that she gossips...she's just curious, and friendly enough to nose about without getting in too much trouble.
She's a bit nerdy too, and reads books and scrolls like they're going out of style. She likes to craft, to sing, to dance, and to fish, but isn't fantastically good at any of those things. Just enough to amuse herself and perhaps her friends if they don't mind her singing a bit flat or her drawings looking more like herdbeasts than dragons. She's dedicated to her friends, warm and loyal to those she loves, and just to those who wrong her (after she gives them a good tongue-lashing).
History: As mentioned before, her parents were a healer and a harper. All three of them resided in a hold that tithes to Solace, and most of her life was plain and dull. Going to harper lessons, learning how to do enough of some crafts to take care of herself, and potentially make a career of one, she eventually tired of it in her late teens when she really started noticing dragons, and thinking how fun flying looks.
She tried presenting herself to the riders one day when they came searching, and to her and her family's surprise, it worked. She was searched and flown away from the hold with her parents' worries and blessings. She is older for a first time candidate, but that only has made her more determined and eager to do her best the first or second go around. Who knows how many shots she'll have after all!!
She's done her best to get to know everyone in the weyr, and to show she's worthy to be here. She's settled in well, and made some friends. She's still debating what she'll do should she not impress before she ages out, but continues to hope that things will go her way.
She's considered staying around the weyr if she ages, so she can at least be near the dragons. Maybe go out for wher handling, as she is one of the few who actually find them quite adorable. She has also tried several times to get her hands on a firelizard egg or two, but has had no success at all.
She recently was sick, and was terrified she'd miss the clutch, but it was a mere cold and she got over it with minimal issue. The stress has made her seem worn more lately, but the longer goes on between the illness and the hatching, the better she feels. More time to recover, and she's pretty sure she'll be able to stand unless it comes back. Those darned colds!
