Appearance:
Personality:
Regardless of mood, though, K'vel is rather easily approached, allowing anyone to walk up and speak with him. A cordial nature gives him a warm and welcoming attitude that makes others glad to talk with him, be it in private or in public. Polite almost to a fault, this young man can be counted on to keep a secret (as long as it's not a bad one), and can be depended upon to do whatever it takes to cheer a person up when they're down. K'vel is also rather self-assured and has never once doubted or questioned himself in his eighteen Turns of life. This confident air also helps add to the easy-going and affable facet of his persona. However, in everything, there is an adverse to this cordial nature. When young K'vel is in an ill mood, he is prone to either clamming up and refusing to talk to anyone, or snapping at them with such a fire in his eyes that one would think that he truly was mad or frustrated with them. In truth, he doesn't find fault with others, always looking to himself as the source of any grief he may find with another person. He has a fair concept of right and wrong, however, and strives to do only right as he walks through life. As with anyone, he knows that there are some who strive to do the opposite, but there is no true 'black' and 'white', no true 'good' or 'evil'. After all, what is good and right to one person may be vile and wicked in the eyes of another. It is this knowledge in itself that causes the young harper to think on how he himself views 'good' and 'evil', and in fact caused K'vel to gain an almost obsessive urge to figure out what causes a person to act out in the ways that they do.
K'vel is bold and daring, never giving up on a situation and always searching for the solution to a problem. Some would call this attitude fearless, but he quickly corrects them by saying that he possesses fear, but refuses to show it in a situation that calls for bravery. When he comes across others that have been arguing or are still in the process of fighting, the rider will quickly step in to mediate, even when weapons are involved. This causes many to believe that K'vel is nothing short of foolish, and still others to believe that nothing truly intimidates him. To this day, K'vel is still unsure of this behavior is borne of foolishness or bravery, nor does he truly care. When one is brought to the edge of recklessness, the young man tries to convince them not to do foolish things, though that in itself is poor advice on his part, since he doesn't really practice it himself. When it comes to something or someone that catches his interest, he will follow them and study them for days before finally approaching them, confident in his ability to read others by then to keep from getting into too much trouble with the person in question. Of course, this doesn't mean that he doesn't get in trouble at all, but he's smart enough not to get pushed into doing something so stupid and dangerous that could endanger the lives of others. K'vel has a silver tongue on him, that much can be certain; he can find clever ways to express his thoughts in the blink of an eye, and is often rather cautious and sly when trying to glean information from another person.
Adding to his easily-approachable aspect, K'vel is sociable, loving the company of others. While not exactly a 'social butterfly' type of person, he does enjoy conversing, and loves playing his instruments for whoever is willing to listen. He claims that music is the gateway to one's true emotions, and will often lose himself so completely in the music he's playing that he completely loses touch with reality, hours passing by without the young man even realizing it. He is often seen slipping into a crowd in order to converse with both the brightest of minds and the simplest of workers, and enjoys talking with drudges among the most. When asked why, K'vel explains that he likes hearing what these hard workers have to say about the environment they toil so much in. Perhaps the most unusual in his mind are the drudges, those deemed unfit for anything more than menial and rather backbreaking labor. What brought them into this life, that they were only considered as little more than chattel by some? Personally, he abhors the thought of them being considered lower than the lowest creature on Pern, and even goes out of his way to help the conditions of the lowly drudges when he can. The young man is also rather optimistic, often giving advice that involves high hopes or simply the love of life itself. K'vel can find a sliver of hope in a tempest of depression and turmoil, and tends to expect the best of possibilities to happen. Whenever the worst-case scenario does happen, the young man is thrown for a loop and can't understand why the situation played out like it did.[/ul]
History:
Weyrling training sped by rather quickly for the pair, the whole time Naserenth teaching is rider what he believed a bronze's rider should be. K'vel bumped heads with his dragon on more than one occasion, simply for the beast's prideful ways, but Naserenth was a stubborn creature, and believed with a firm claw that he was right. K'vel would simply have to get used to that fact, and he was more than willing to wait. And the bronze's determination paid off in the long run; they graduated from training with high marks, and was put on the fast track for becoming a Wingleader. They were placed as Wingseconds first, and both bronze and rider quickly showed their cleverness and strategic eptitude, helping their Wingleader come up with ways to tackle Thread with as few casualties as possible. Just before Grenth's last mating flight, K'vel and Naserenth were promoted to Wingleader, a fact that makes the both of them very proud; they were serving their Weyr in the best way they knew how, and that was nothing short of a source of smug pleasure for both dragon and rider.[/ul]
