Username: Yara
Character Number: 3rd
Name: Rialin (Just call her Ria, you’ll live longer if you do)
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Undetermined(to be honest, she really just doesn’t care.)
Rank: Journeyman Trader, Dragon Candidate
Wing: N/A
Status: Strong and Healthy
Appearance:
The girl is far from beautiful, she really is just a plain and average young woman who might be considered an okay looking wife(that is, if she ever wanted to be someone’s wife.) She stands at 5’5” and weighs around 136lbs. Though the girl seems rather bold and reckless, she is really rather lanky and thin. Ria has a higher metabolism which makes her burn through calories and carbs easier. She does have some muscular tone, but really all you see is this rather skinny and boney looking young woman who might just tell you off for looking at her for too long. The young woman also is rather flat chested, which is something she cares little about, but will yell at anyone who points it out.
Ria is rather pale even though she spends a lot of time out in the sun, she has a lighter skin tone that makes it easier for her to burn if she spends too much time out in the light. Most people think it’s funny that the girl has to wear long sleeved shirts and all in the sun while everyone else can walk around without any worry. The one thing that Ria hates the most though is her hair, she has long dark brown hair that falls almost to mid back. She finds it bothersome and too long, if she could she would simply hack it off and just take it off. Her hair is slightly curly, curling in on at the end of the tips. Her eyes are a light brown color, rather warm compared to the rest of her pale or dark appearance.
The girl wears what works the best for doing things, if she needs to wear long sleeved during the winter then she will. If she can wear short sleeved during the hotter seasons then she will. The girl really doesn’t care too much about clothes, she does like comfort but that is just another matter of its own. She wears lighter colors most of the time because they take less dye to make them and she really isn’t going to spend all of her hard earned marks on silly things like clothes. So she simply buys the cheaper clothing. You probably won’t see this girl in a dress either, she doesn’t mind them but she finds it ridiculous that girls have to wear skirts and dresses when guys can just wear pants.
Personality: Bold, Strong willed, Blunt, Opinionated, Courageous, Loyal, Protective, Spitfire, Patient, Outspoken, Independent, Reckless.
In some cases, Ria would be considered more of a boy than actually a girl from the way she acts. There is nothing wispy or overly affectionate about her. She’s a girl who speaks her mind and refuses to allow anyone to ever tell her that she’s wrong. She a bold young woman who will walk up to anyone, no matter their size or rank and tell them that she believes they’re wrong. In some ways, the girl almost seems fearless even though most of the time she’s really just being rather reckless with her actions. If she believes herself to be right then she simply has no fear of telling someone else that they’re wrong. Ria is a rather stubborn and thickskulled mule, or at least that’s what her father always told her when they would fight. If she believes something then she won’t stop until the other person at least admits she might be right.
The young woman is rather blunt with her thoughts and feelings; she’s not going to sugarcoat the truth for anyone. If you ask her a question, you will receive an honest if not a bit painful of a truth from her. She feels that sugarcoating things to keep from hurting people’s feelings really does little good for anyone. It just makes people soft and vulnerable later to being hurt; at least she’s giving them a chance of being able to stand on their own when their feet are knocked out from under them. She is very opinionated, telling people her thoughts about them and other things. She is easily angered though, so if you ever tell her she’s wrong, there will be a horrible consequence.
This girl is very courageous; she would throw herself into a fight to help the little guy out if he was getting hurt. She would stand up to a biggest and meanest person and spit on their boots. She really is a rather reckless idiot, but she has no fear of the consequences. She is very loyal to those who become her friends; she would take their secrets to the grave with her if she could. She also protects her friends from others, even if she won’t protect them from her own truths.
Even though Ria seems like the type who wouldn’t wait around for anything, she is rather patient. She will sit it out and wait until she gets what she wants. The girl is also very independent; she needs no one else to do things for her. If she needs help then it’ll take her a long time to actually admit that she needed it. It takes even longer for her to thank the person because she really doesn’t want to admit that she needed someone’s help.
History:
Ria was the last to be born in the family, it was a rather long and dry summer. Some people were afraid that there would be a drought but Rinton refused to stay in any hold and wait out the difficult summer, he was a trader and traders never rested or gave up on their work. His wife was heavily pregnant with their sixth child and even though healers told him that he should stay at a hold, he told them that they would be just fine out there. So they packed up their kids and went off to continue trading. If he had known now what he knew then, he probably would have stayed with the hold for a bit longer.
His wife went into labor when they were far from any hold; they managed to find a small cothold where she could deliver the baby. The delivery went fine, but afterwards the young woman was bleeding and they were unable to stop the bleeding. Rinton watched his wife pass away due to the fact that they didn’t have a proper healer to help them, he may have had a healthy baby in his arms but he had lost the woman who had been with him for countless turns. The little baby girl was named Rialin, the last daughter to be born of Aliyan before she passed on.
After that, their father became rather distant towards his children. He became more a business man, all work and no play. He did love his children, but the loss of his wife made it hard for him to show such affection to them. Rialin grew up basically being taken care of by her siblings who somewhat blamed her for the death of their mother. The girl grew up basically picking fights with her siblings and learning that to love something would be foolish. Her siblings had loved their mother and because of Rialin they were all now suffering the lack of a mother figure in the family.
She just wanted approval though from her father, the cold figure head of the family. She worked hard and being a trader, striking hard bargains with customers and refusing to give in when it seemed like the customer would simply walk away. She had an eye for how low the customer would be willing to go and a keen mind. Her father didn’t care though, the most she ever got out of him was ‘good work, get a lower price next time though.’ So she continued to work hard, distancing herself emotionally from her siblings.
The girl knew that eventually she would have to marry and just like everything else it would be a bargaining. How much could they get out of her for a husband with good land and a decent amount of marks? She refused to be some wife of someone who would amount to nothing or beat her. Her sister had married a plain and boring farmer boy when they stopped to trade with some farms. She wanted a better life though; maybe she could make the son of a lord holder. She believed that she could please not only her father with a good match but everyone else if she could get the right deal out of the marriage.
Though these thoughts would change when a rider visited the caravan on a quiet evening. Her father had dealt with many riders before, always staying neutral in his beliefs between the South and North and their feuds. Rialin jumped on the chance to try and get some marks out of the rider and went to help him while her father worked on other things. The rider seemed rather interested in the family and kept asking questions that irritated Rialin, she just wanted to get marks out of the man and sell something to him. He had other plans in mind; he told her that he was a search rider from Solace. This really brought no thrill for the young woman and she waited to see what he wanted. He told her that he was in search of candidates and his dragon believed that she would make a fine candidate. She asked him what she would get out of this and the male seemed rather shocked at the question. He told her that she would become a candidate for a dragon and eventually the girl said that she would go. Her family almost seemed relieved to have her leave to go be a candidate.
That was how Rialin ended up at Solace, standing for the clutch Grenth had laid on the sands.
