The Miazouto Region is a mysterious tropical paradise that only the bravest trainers dare to explore. This region is filled to the brim with mystery, ancient legends, and (of course) pokemon. Once every three years this tropical paradise opens its ports for six new trainers and gives these new trainers the chance of a lifetime. This tradition has never been broken, not once but, for some reason this year Miazouto officials have urged new trainers not to come to their tropical paradise.

The six chosen trainers have ignored these warnings for now but, soon they may regret this.

Miazouto has always been a rather dangerous place. From it's carnivorous plants to it's steep cliffs the tropical paradise was never a really ideal place to raise a family. None the less, many pokemon trainers and breeders traveled to the Island, intent on finding the famed riches of Miazouto's Isles and claiming the glory that came with it. Trainer after trainer came, trainer after trainer vanished into the wild jungle because they wandered off the path set for them. Trainer after trainer and out of all these trainers not one returned. Not one, except for a mysterious man that had made his home off in the thick jungle. Soon the man and a group of trainers vanished into the jungle, never to be seen again.

Many months after the man and the trainer's disappearance many trainer's began to get attacked by men and women in dark clothes who would snatch their pokemon with just a snap of their fingers. These men and women called themselves "Team Obsidian" and their motives were unknown. One by one trainers stopped coming to Miazouto in search of riches in fear that their pokemon would be stolen and before long only those who lived on the island were left.

And that's when the pokemon attacked.

Out of nowhere the once peaceful pokemon of the Island grew angry and stronger then ever before, nothing would calm these wild pokemon and as their number grew, so did their anger. At first they would just attack other wild pokemon but, as the number of pokemon dwindled the pokemon turned on the civilians of the Island. At first it was just an occasional finger snap but, eventually their attacks on the humans grew to such lengths that a few civilians even died from their injuries. Shocked and angry the humans managed to capture many of the pokemon and send them off to an uninhabited island off the coast of Miazouto, while they did capture most of these "Rage Pokemon" a few managed to escape into the jungle and since then these "Rage Pokemon" numbers have been growing. So far Miazouto has kept the stories of these "Rage Pokemon" a secret in hopes that their tourists and trainers will come back but, keeping a secret that big from the rest of the world won't last for long.

And with these new rookie trainers coming to the Islands it will be harder to keep these pokemon under wraps.

Not to mention there have been sightings of "Team Obsidian" again...

It can only seem to appear that the Miazouto Region is going to be in for one rough ride.[/ul]

The Miazouto Region[/u]
A not too well known region, the Miazouto region is one of the most humid regions recorded. Most of the Island is made up with tropical plants and trees making it a great place to catch bug pokemon and flying pokemon. Along time ago the region was full of kind heart civilians who lived here peacefully but, after the swarm of "Rage Pokemon" many of the civilians left, leaving many of the towns empty and nearly abandoned.

"The Isle"

1. "Port Town" --- A small town that is only known for having the Pokemon Lab and a Port to Hoenn. New rookie trainers can stop by the Pokemon lab to get their first pokemon from Professor Pine.

2. "Hearthville" --- This town has been hastily built at the top of the mountain in The Isle. It's smoldering hot up there which makes it a great place to find Fire Pokemon. The First Gym is located here and once was a temple for Entei.

"Jungle Sea"

3. "Solar Village" --- This town is the main tourist attraction, mainly because of all the festivals and Pokemon contests held here. It's also an ideal place to live because it's so close to the port to The Isle. The pokemon nursery is also located here and is run by a kind, aging old lady and her nephew. The first pokemon contest is held here.

4. "Vines of Miazouto" --- A town once nearly forgotten, Vines of Miazouto, has long been since overgrown and wild grass and bug pokemon run free everywhere. They've nearly overtaken the town but, luckily a few trainers and breeders came back into the town and tamed the wild Pokemon. Now the Second Gym is located in this jungle town.

5. "Terra Town" --- It has once been said that a legendary pokemon once dropped large rocks in this town so that the civilians could carve stone house out of the rocks. Whether this is true or not the civilians of the town have certainly stuck to the legend. Everyone here lives in houses carved out of rocks. The second contest is located here and beyond the town borders lies a seemingly endless jungle forest.

6. "Endless Maze" --- Few trainers have managed to make it through this thick jungle by themselves, many trainers often get lost in the many twists and turns and never return. It is said a rare pokemon lives here and guides lost trainers home.

7. "Bloom Town" --- Once named for the beautiful flowers that bloomed in the jungle trees, this town is a tropical paradise. The buildings are made from huts and a rather nice Inn has been settled in the town. In fact, this place would be perfect would it not be for the wild electric pokemon that enjoy hiding in the jungle and zapping passerbyers. Most civilians stay within their homes because of these pokemon and they definitely do not recommend letting any water pokemon out of their pokeballs in this town. The third Gym is located here and the gym leader (ironically) uses electric pokemon.

8. "Mysterious Mansion" --- Old and abandoned this mansion was once a great place to live at. But when the swarm of "Rage Pokemon" invaded the owners of the mansion were eventually killed. Now wild pokemon linger around, intent on claiming the mansion as their own.

9. "Xatu Town" --- A town dedicated to the Xatu pokemon. Here, many civilians will open up their houses for trainers to sleep and stay in. The third contest is held here.

10. "Bromeliads Gardens" --- This town is mainly known for their beautiful flowers that grow all across the town. It's the only town with more then fifty civilians, which makes it the largest city in all of the Miazouto region. The fourth gym is located here and only "Normal" Pokemon are used in this gym.

11. "Hidden Town" --- This is a rather odd town, here the town buildings are built in trees with many wooden bridges leading from one building to another. Twice a day a rope ladder leading up to the town will be thrown down so, you better be there on time otherwise you'll be left alone in the jungle. The final contest is held here in this town.

12. "The Typhoon Port" --- A long time ago a large typhoon struck this small town and wiped it straight off the map. The survivors of this horrific catastrophe pulled together and managed to rebuild the town and the port. The town now has many underground tunnels built beneath it in case a typhoon ever strikes the port again. The fifth gym is located underground, right below the port to Snowflake Island.

"Snowflake Island"

13. "The Temple of Articuno" --- Not much is known about this temple, the monks of the temple have long since vanished leaving only unanswered questions behind.

14. "The Village of Blizzards" --- Next to the Battle tower, this is the highest point in the city. There is always snow here, even during the hottest days of the summer. Blizzards and avalanches happen frequently here so, many wonder why the Sixth Gym was decided to be placed here.

"The Path of Ghosts"

15. "The Remnants of a Dream" --- Here lies the remnants of a town that never was. Destroyed while being built, this old town was left to rot. Now, old dying pokemon come to the town to die peacefully. Ghost pokemon linger around here but, it's incredibly hard to catch these pokemon.

16. "?" --- It is unknown what is here. Maybe someone should go investigate it? Hm...

17. "Mine Town" --- Once upon a time an old miner started a small town within the jungle. This old miner was intent on finding the riches of Miatouzo so he built up a mine and the town became a mining town. Many pokemon were used for hard labor in this town and legend says when the pokemon died from exhaustion that their ghosts rose up and destroyed the town and all that inhabited it. Now the only thing you can find in the town is an old run-down pokemon center and old, old mine that leads to the seventh gym. No one lives in this town except for the gym leader.

"Tyranitar Mountain"

18. "Cave of Legends" --- In this old cave lies many paintings and legends written upon the cave walls. Trainers often come here to merely say they've been there.

19. "Rage Forest" --- Once upon a time this was a peaceful jungle forest but, "Rage Pokemon" have taken over the once peaceful jungle and now hunt down innocent pokemon and trainers.

20. "Moon of the Harvest" --- The sun never shines in this town, it is constantly blocked out by the canopy of trees above this town. This makes the town a perfect place for dark pokemon and the final gym.

21. "Tyranitar Peak" --- The highest peak in the Tyranitar Mountains, next to the Battle Tower. Here the rare Tyranitars the mountain range was named for can be seen. It's been constantly urged that trainers travel through this range of the mountains at night when the Tyranitars are asleep.

22. "Excellence Town" --- This small town holds the cave that marks the start of Victory Road which eventually leads up to the Battle tower.

23. "Battle League Tower" --- Here the elite four stay to battle challengers. Lately though it's been eerily quiet...

Appearance: A girly boy, Jason is rather lanky and slender. He has a pretty face and, short blond hair that he keeps back with hair pins and hair bows. His eyes are hazel-brown, looking a bit more golden then true hazel. He tends to wear hightops, capris, and flattering blouses with hooded jackets.
Personality: Vain and effeminate, Jason enjoys dressing up in fashionable clothes, and, dressing others up. He's quite fond of shopping but, even then, he does have a few 'boyish' qualities. He's an adventurer, he loves exploring. He may not like getting dirty but, he does love running around outside. Loud and peppy, he likes to think he's fun to be around, even if he's pretty selfish. (He is truly oblivious to how selfish he is, though. He just takes care of himself and doesn't realize to think of others.)
History: Born and raised in the Kanto region, Jason was the youngest out of five children, and, the only boy. He was spoiled and doted on by his older sisters, making him grow up into a rather effeminate boy. Despite this, though, he was also rather adventurous, even if he was a bit vain. He read about the Miazouto region growing up and, was one the few trainers selected to start a pokemon journey there.

People tell me that I am
an unfriendly person. They would be right, too. I've never made any great effort to ingratiate myself to those around me, and I'm sure not interested in making new friends. People suck, plain and simple. If they're not selfish, they're stupid, and if they're not stupid, they're just mean. I know what you're going to say. You're going to tell me that's a harsh judgment to pass on every single person, that it's unfair not to give people a chance. Well, do you know what? Life isn't fair, so suck it up and get over it. I haven't yet met anyone who has actually proven themselves to be worth my time or my respect, and I'm not holding my breath waiting. I don't need other people to live, so it's pointless to care about making nicey-nice with them when I have absolutely no desire to hang about and chat. If you try to start a conversation with me, you'll likely just get your head bitten off for your troubles; I don't like being bothered. I may be a loner, but that doesn't mean I'm afraid to tell you what's on my mind, and I'm much more likely to kick your ass for annoying me than to skulk away to be by myself.

The exception to this would probably be if you happen to be an attractive female; cute girls are always fun to fool around with. If I see one I like, I can put on a reasonably civil face until they're convinced that I'm a decent person. It's hardly a chore to keep my comments to myself when it comes to my latest curiosity. It's all in the interest of a little fun, and once that's over, then the girl in question is out on their ass, just like that. One thing about me, though, is that I value my pride very highly, and won't ever back down from a challenge. Inevitably that means I'll lose sometimes, but if you ever cross me, you can bet your life that I will get even eventually.

No one screws with Donovan Archer and gets away with it.

I would describe myself as
thin, subtle, and a hell of a lot tougher than I look. Yeah, yeah, after that big speech about how I don't need anyone else and I can take care of myself, you were probably expecting me to be big and muscular, with a strong back and ready fists. Right? Well, much as I hate to admit it, I'm not. Don't make any wrong assumptions! I will be a man to be respected some day. And just because I'm not huge now doesn't mean I'm a weakling. 5'2" is a respectable height for a boy my age, even if I am a bit thin. Besides, I don't need to be big to be able to fend for myself. I've got speed and I've got tactics, and on the few occasions that I've gotten into real fights I have used both to my advantage in order to deal out lasting marks. Like most people in this crappy town I have a pretty pale complexion, more from the lack of sun than because I never go outside. It's impossible to get a tan here, even though I haven't lived in a proper house for years. My hair is such a pale shade of blonde that it might as well be white, and as a result I look even more washed-out than I might have with darker hair. It's pretty limp and straight, and I keep it cut to about the bottom of my ears, so it doesn't get in the way too much even though it does tend to hang over my eyes.

Speaking of my eyes, I have been told that they are very unsettling, and a lot of people don't like to hold my gaze for very long. Which is just as well, because I'd have to ask them what their problem was if they did, but that's not the point. My eyes are a slightly greenish golden colour, and have been compared to a snake's. I'm alright with that comparison; if I had to be compared to an animal, then at least that's a pretty good one to be likened to. As for my clothing, I take what I can get, since I've been living on the streets for the most recent years of my life. I like black clothes the best, since they don't stain easily and they don't attract attention, so that's what I tend to wear above anything else. Right now I'm wearing a pair of black jeans and a black T-shirt, and a lightweight grey jacket. I just wear a couple of worn sneakers on my feet; shoes are expensive, and stealing them is more trouble than it's worth, so as long as they fit, they'll just have to do. Around my neck is an iron collar which has been there for over eight years now. I don't like to draw attention to it, as it carries nothing but bad memories for me, and usually I wear a white scarf around my neck to hide it. My back is covered with old scars, and this is another thing that I make sure to hide. I always make sure to keep my body carefully covered when other people are around, no matter how hot it is. Because if someone saw my collar, or worse, my old injuries... well. Then I would just have to kill them.

The typical type of Pokйmon I use would have to be
dark pokemon, obviously. Ghost Pokйmon are respectable too, I suppose, but there is really nothing that can beat a decent dark Pokйmon for power and sheer intimidation. Really what I look for is just a dangerous, sneaky Pokйmon with intelligence and power. As long as it fits those criteria, then it's worth catching in my opinion.

I don't adore anything. What kind of a word is that for a self-respecting male to use? I like girls, though, the prettier the better. I like feeling in control too; I've had enough of being obedient.

But can't stand people in general, really. Worthless scum, all of them.

And I’m afraid of nothing! Have you been paying attention to anything I said so far? Do I seem like the type to be meek and frightened? But secretly, I dread the thought of becoming a slave again. I don't think I could continue living if I had to go back to that life.

My whole life has gone by so fast!
Actually, it hasn't. To be honest, my life dragged on and on, and has continued to do so while I lived in Waylan. It started out the usual way, with a man and a woman. I don't know their names, but they mustn't have been looking to have a child, because after I was born they didn't show me a whole lot of love. In fact, my dear parents showed just how much they cared for me by selling me to a slave caravan when I was only six years old. Yeah, I didn't know such things roamed around Sorйnn either. Surprise! Turns out they do. In any case, I don't remember much about that life, and if you asked me where I was born or what my parents looked like I honestly couldn't tell you. What I could tell you, however, is exactly what the face of the man who bought me looked like. I can recall in perfect detail the bulbous mass that served for his nose, and the way his watery blue eyes stared piggishly from his bloated face. He purchased me about six weeks after I was sold, when the caravan stopped in a large port town on the northern edge of Sorйnn. I seem to recall that it smelled excessively of dead fish, and a great many of the people I saw there were emaciated, ill, or more commonly, both, so it mustn't have been a very well-off place.

Once the money changed hands, I was brought to a mud-and-brick building that was separated from the slummier parts of town by a large wall. This was to be my home for the next five years, but never once did I learn what it was called. All I know is that I spent that time doing various errands for the man and two others who lived there and trying to keep them from noticing me. I was given an iron collar with the man's name imprinted in it, to mark me as his, and was given tasks such as cleaning the house (but not home; it would never be a home) and running errands. There was no chance of me running away; there were guards at each city exit, and every citizen had the right to discipline a disobedient slave. Whenever I did something wrong or too slowly, or just if someone was feeling pissed off, then I was punished accordingly. Sometimes I was just backhanded or beaten, but most often I was whipped. That seemed to be the favorite method of discipline, for I never saw any of my three masters without one tucked into their belt.

Two other slaves also worked at that house, a pair of older girls who were never allowed outside. Despite all the abuse, overwork, and lack of sleep I suffered, I think that they suffered the most from anything that went on there. Because I was often busy doing errands or other chores, Ezra and Lilian were most often the targets of our masters' aggression. They also suffered abuse which was never directed at me, but that was all done behind closed doors, as my presence was not appreciated in such situations. Also, I at least had some measure of freedom, in that I could wander the marketplace relatively freely as long as I kept my head down and didn't annoy any of the higher citizens.

But the two girl-slaves were too valuable to be allowed to run around on their own; they were kept close to the masters' sides at all times. And that was how time passed for me, for five long years during which I spent every moment of my life in pain and spite. Though I learned to be wary of my masters, I never fully accepted their dominion, and I hated them not long after I was introduced into their house. For years I dreamed of the day I would escape from there and be free from that awful place, but I didn't see the opportunity until five years after I had arrived there, when I was eleven years old.

It was a bad time for people in the dump of a town where I lived. Drought had hit, and there hadn't been any rain for several months. Since food was scarce, my rations were even more meager than usual, and both famine and disease were running rampant in the lower city. One day I was sent out to buy some trivial items for the masters, and ended up walking through a more run-down street as I headed towards market. I saw a cart carrying offal out of the city, and didn't think much of it; they were a common sight. But as soon as the cart passed out of my view, I was struck with an insane impulse to get out, to escape the hole that I was living in. Taking a chance, I slipped into a nearby side-street in an effort to catch up with the cart, braving the possibility of robbers and assassins for the chance of freedom. I came out on the main street just before the cart rolled past my position, and crouched inconspicuously in the shadows, awaiting my chance. Just as the cart moved slowly past, I darted from my place and climbed in, quickly burrowing into the stinking pile of rotted food and human waste to avoid being detected. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever done, but in the end it got me out of the city, and that was what mattered.

Once the cart stopped I climbed out and bolted, running as fast as I could though I could hear shouts and the sounds of pursuit behind me. What came after that is a bit of a haze; I wandered south for a long time, coming to a dark, cloudy forest and making my way through it completely at random. During that time I was stalked by more than one Pokйmon, most of which were completely unfamiliar to me, but none of them ever hurt me. I guess they figured that I wasn't threatening or appetizing enough to attack. In any case, I stumbled upon a tiny village purely by chance and started lurking there, not willing to really talk to anyone but too weary to go any further. My skin was darker in those days, which probably made people curious, but after I had lived there for a while it paled until I looked just like everyone else, which was fine with me. I lived there for three years before I finally wormed my way onto a ship heading for Mizaouto, and that's how I came to find myself on a tiny, stifling island filled with bird and bug Pokйmon.

OH! I almost forgot!
I treat my Pokйmon a lot better than I treat other people. I've never had any bad experiences with them, and in my opinion they're a lot more trustworthy than any human. That doesn't mean I'm some kind of sappy Pokйmon lover though. They're not as worthless as people, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way to be nice to them. Pokйmon and I have a sort of truce, and that's about it.

"We have now arrived at Miazouto Region! All passengers please make your way ashore in an orderly fashion. We hope you enjoyed your ride."

The staticky voice of the large ferry's operator crackled overhead, spurring the dozen or so people on board to move about in search of belongings or each other. Heavy feet thumped over the wooden floorboards, and excited chatter floated about as single passengers and families made their way off the boat. At the edge of the craft, away from most of the activity, Donovan Archer hung over the rail with his hair flopping in his face. His pale skin had a faint green tinge to it, and his eyes were overly bright.

The voyage had not been kind to the fourteen year old boy. The gentle rocking motion of the boat made his stomach toss as if they were still out at sea, and the harsh cries of wingulls rang in his ears. Donovan swore he would never set foot on another boat as long as he lived. He'd either fly off this island on the back of a Pokйmon, or he'd just have to live there his entire life.

It was an effort of sheer will to prise himself off of the guardrail and stumble onto solid land. Such was his confusion that Donovan almost left the battered satchel with all of his belongings behind on the boat. He had left nothing behind when he had departed for Miazouto; Donovan had few possessions to his name, and nothing of any value. It would have been a blow to lose the only things he owned on the very first day of his journey. Finding dry land beneath his feet at last, Donovan clutched his bag tightly.

The milling crowds of the harbour were nothing new to him, although the location was totally alien. He was used to grey dust and sun, and for the past three years all he had known was the damp chill of the deep forest. The land he now found himself in was smothered in thick swathes of greenery, and even the air wrapped around him like a blanket. Only the rank stench of fish and the cries of hawking merchants were familiar to him as he wound his way through the throng.

Finding the Pokйmon lab would be his first priority, Donovan decided. He had come to this region to find a starter and train in a land where the risks and the rewards were both high. Food and shelter were next on his list, but the pallid youth was confident of his ability to secure both with routine effort. Donovan had lived on the street since he was eleven years old; he knew the sorts of places to look for safety or sustenance.

It was just the lab that he would have difficulty locating, not being familiar with the town in question. He'd need to ask someone who knew the area, and so, adjusting the strap of his bag on his shoulder, Donovan began his search for a likely candidate.
